Happy Friday

I love it when a plan comes together. Today was a lovely day. We had mild sunny weather, so I took the dog and the boy to an off-leash park that has trails through the woods. We wandered in the woods for over an hour. The dog got about three times the work out that we did, as he went back and forth, up ahead and he'd run back to us. C ran sticks along the ground and played in the dirt. I got exercise, it was perfect.

C brought me two sticks, "Big Stick" and "Green Stick," My heart overflowed with pride at his use of adjectives!

We came home and had lunch, I made Chinese peanut noodles with broccoli, C took a bite and said, "Yay broccoli!" He reminded of certain friend from San Fran, "Yay, Hon."

We had a family dinner out, a big treat, at an English Pub in Snohomish. T and I talked about midwives and home births vs. birthing center. He is apprehensive about birthing at home. In his words, "The baby will be born with cat hair all over it!"

Have a great weekend!

First Sentence!

Last night, I went to knitting night and T did bath and bedtime. A wonderful bit of freedom for me!

T asked the boy in the tub:
How many noses do you have
One
How many ears do you have
One....two (he touched each one and counted!)

This morning, we were all up early (6:30 am), so we got to see T in the morning, he picked up the boy, and wanting me to see what I had missed, asked him, "How many ears do you have."

I guess it was a little too early to perform. This was C's response, his first sentence!

"No ears, Dad."

Are you thinking of getting a dog?

If you don't want your yard to look like the surface of the moon, you should reconsider!

We filled in many holes dug by the very guilty looking dog in this photo, and by We, I mean I helped also-I filled in 2 holes and T about 20.

This guy help, too!

I couldn't decide which photo was cuter! That's how he shows you his smile!

Slightly Less Cheap

I almost got caught by the 'pronoun game,' as T calls it. I was about to write that, "We put up Roman Shades this weekend." But by We, I clearly mean my husband and I didn't have a thing to do with it. T has noticed this and calls it the pronoun game, when I take credit, as a We, for something He did! He points it out with love.

So, He hung Roman shades in the sun room, after only a year! And He took down the cheap ugly mini blinds in the kitchen and said, "Now our house looks slightly less cheap!" Hooray! Now if we could do something about the bathroom floor....

The Toddler seems like a different kid this weekend. He's become obstinant. He didn't take a nap yesterday and enjoyed doing whatever we said No to. He was a bear by the end of the night, and ended up falling off his chair and hitting his face on the train table and split his lip open. After about 2 minutes of crying and cleaning his mouth, he said, "Trains," and went back to playing. He must get that from T's side of the family, I don't bounce back that easily!

Surprise!

This is an older photo, but it's just so funny I have to post it!

This is my buddy. I call my son Buddy or Bud or a thousand other names, but mostly Bud. When I was a kid, my parents went out of town and my Grandpa Cott watched me and my 2 sisters. I remember not eating my dinner, but I wanted dessert-an Eskimo Pie. I cried because I wasn't allowed to have one. He said we were buddies and gave me one. We started calling each other Buddy. When you are the youngest of three girls, anything that is singular to just you and your grandpa is special. I think Grandpa Cott would have liked my son and my husband, so I think of my son as my Buddy, and carry on the tradition.

Life in the Prudden House

We bought a 100+ year old house. This is the story of life in and outside the house. And there's a lot of life in here: 2 adults, 1 almost 2 year old, a growing in-utero baby, 2 cats and a dog!

We are not the Prudden's, but in 1892 they built this house. . . which is now our house!
I've started this blog for friends and family to keep up with us and our growing friends and family!
