Language

One of the great things about Butters getting closer to 3 is his use of language. In the last week, he's had a big jump, not just in vocabulary, but in sentence length and comprehension. He was talking with his dad the other night:

Dad: I have an idea, let's get into bed and read stories.
Butters: I think that's a great idea, Daddy.
D: You're a great kid, you know that?
B: You are a great daddy, Daddy!

Does that melt your heart, or what! Today he woke up and said, "It's time to go downstairs for a special drink, and that special drink is....chocolate milk!"

The little princess (smirk) has been trying to talk too. Cooing and signing and giggling. She's rolled over both ways now. I took her to the doc for her eyes, and it turns out she's got blocked tear ducts from the congestion. We think anyways. Since I can't stand to post without a photo, here's one of her sleeping on me in the sling. Look how big that hand is, she's like a puppy!

It snowed here on Friday, March is going out like a lion! We hope to do some yard work tomorrow.

Roll Over

I only got one Easter pic from the whole weekend, but it's a good one! Very telling-he ran out of room in his knitted easter basket and needed to upgrade, a bit over the top with presents and candy, but this guy didn't complain. Still, I wouldn't mind consuming less next year.

Baby E flipped from this

to this!

These were inevitable!

Emotions

Still dramatic today with a certain almost three year old, but I'm trying to enjoy my non-paying job and remember the good things: Butters pushing me in the swing, his laugh, baby E smiling up at brother, snuggling in the morning with both kids. Here are some of my pics from the last few days.

Blog worthy

I've been having a bad few weeks and wondering if this is blog worthy or not. Should I bore you with details of my day and one frustration after another? Does this help other moms to know that you are not alone? I started my day with another person's poo on my arm and at 11:00 pm I'm still doing things for other people. I sometimes turn into Mean Mommy and talk in ways I don't want to, I condescend, I'm sarcastic, I'm grouchy. I become a person I don't want to be. But, I figured you don't really want to hear this. I expect too much out of my kids and myself. I need to stop sweating the small stuff, enjoy my days, forget the nights and cut back on the caffeine. I haven't had a decent night sleep in years-YEARS! I think it's starting to make me crazy, which one the sleep or the caffeine? All of it. Knitting is the thing I do for myself, it's keeping me sane right now.

I guessed the ailment before House on a repeat the other night-chimera's, is that blog worthy? Yes, I'm talking about TV. It felt like one of the first times I've used my brain in nearly 3 years.

Spring is on the way, things are always easier when the sun is shining.

I did catch some time to sew a cushion cover for the bench seat my man built for Baby E. If she ends of taking it to college, I'll make a new one and I'll fix the mistakes on this one. But, I'm not a do-over kind of person, so I'll leave it as is.

I don't feel so good

Baby's not feeling so well today and yesterday. The boys went to Chuck E. Cheese, one of the most overwhelming places on the planet! I got out of it, thanks to staying home with the sick one!

The dog waited for the boys to come home. He can't believe they left with out him!

Runners Up

I got a couple comments from people that they liked the red hat photo of Baby E. These shots were the runners up.

I know. Cute for different reasons!

Bavaria

We went to the snow for the weekend-to Leavenworth, a Bavarian town up in the mountains. It was a beautiful 2 hour drive. The kids did great (except for the little one at night), the dog had a blast. We met up with T's family and Butters loved playing with his cousin.

It's impossible to get a good photo of two moving kids, so here is a bad photo of both of them! Butters didn't want to leave. He loved the 3 feet of old crunchy snow, and he also got to go on a horse drawn carriage. "The horse pooped!" He told me after I came back from the knitting store!

Crying when it's time to go home. See the snow through the window behind him?

The next step for baby E-solid food! She's no longer completely dependant on me. I have mixed feelings. I'm proud of her for each step she takes growing up, but I also realize I'm putting myself out of business.

Hats-next year

What have I been knitting lately? Hats. From the same skein of yarn, donated by alpaca's of Friday Harbor. I had bought this for P. Mookie on a trip with her to FH over a year ago. Then Butters asked me to knit him something for the first time ever- a red hat, he said! I decided to dip into stash. I made the Yarn Harlot's unoriginal hat, which turned out too girly.
Guess who gets that one.

Then I made a basic hat, it ended up a bit big. Alpaca is 8 times warmer than wool and very soft, so next winter both heads will be warm and matching.

I'm also knitting a sweater for Friend and posting it on the shop blog.

Book Report and a Lovely Tea Party

We've been having wonderful conversations lately. Thanks to Richard Scary word books and a great imagination. Today, Butters called the rain flowing down the street a 'street river.' He's been reading The Best Word Book Ever and Things That Go by RS over and over. Every page is filled with something to talk about and look for-pickle cars, L worm, gold bug.

I finished a few books lately as well. Midshipman Hornblower and Confessions of an Ugly Stepsister (by the same guy who wrote Wicked). Both were good, but when my sister asked me what I was reading, "A midshipman in the British navy." She couldn't believe it, I picked it up from Father In Law.

Today we are having a tea party with peanut butter banana muffins, Elvis would have loved them! He just put his napkin on his chest, "Put it on my chest like Grandma do." My mom calls it her hillbilly napkin!

Yesterday it was gorgeous blue skies and we saw 8 bald eagles above our house. Today, it's rainy and grey and sad because we are all alone.
